Leadership In The Chinese Revolution
The most important leaders of the Chinese revolution had large influences on the people at the time. One example was, Yuan Shikai who seemed, to the conservatives and revolutionaries alike as the man that would be able to lead the country to peace and unity; thus, making Shikai the first president of the Republic of China. When he was denied a loan by the National Assembly he undermined the Assembly and murdered the chairman of the party. He then later attempted to bring back the dynasty and become the new emperor. However, broad opposition forced him to dismiss the idea. He died three months later. Sun Yat-sen also played an important part in the revolution, he was a representative of the revolutionaries. Yat-sen presented a program outlining the major changes the government has to make to reach the goal of the revolution. In this outline he discussed how everyone shall unite as a nation and that people are the foundation of the government.
